How to make a Pumpkin Bong
That time of year, it is. Autumn has come! Everybody has a favorite part of autumn. We’re sure you’ve seen all the memes and Instagram videos of the pumpkin-ing. We’d like to point out, though, that autumn is undoubtedly one of the best periods for smoking a pipe. Celebrating the end of summer is much better as you relax next to a grill and bask in the glory of new herbs.
Making a pumpkin bong will make you simultaneously enjoy the spirit of fall and your favorite sport! Not sure exactly how this can be done? With good outcomes assured, we’ve put together a definitive guide for smokers to do this project. Read on to learn how you can build a pumpkin bong that would be proud of even Charlie Brown himself.
What You’ll Be Needing:
- Sharpie (we warn not to use an orange one as we have done)
- A Pumpkin
- Glass Downsteam – get it here
- Glass Bowl – get it here…
- Mouthpiece (from a broken bong) or merely a straw
- Knife or other carving tools
- A spoon
Find the Correct Pumpkin
You’ll want to consider height over roundness, as both a downstem and a mouthpiece need to have enough space. Just imagine trying to add these parts to your pumpkin and leaving ample space before you get to the pumpkin patch. It may be harder to touch a bigger pumpkin, but handheld pumpkins may be more manageable.
Downstem And Mouthpiece Positioning
It would be best to plot out the cuts, like a blueprint, before taking any permanent action. Try not to improvise! Mark the places where you can use your Sharpie pen to make the following cuts on the pumpkin:
Downstem hole: The downstem should be on the side of the pumpkin, heading toward the bottom of the pumpkin at an angle of 45 degrees.
Mouthpiece hole: Either on top of the pumpkin or toward the top of the pumpkin should be the mouthpiece. This option depends on how you would like to smoke.
Top of the pumpkin: The cut at the top of the pumpkin should be fairly wide for the pumpkin to be washed effectively but not too wide for the mouthpiece or downstem holes to mess up.
Using a precise measurement instrument, the pumpkin’s top is sliced safely with a very sharp blade. Make sure to keep this piece nearby and intact. Even be careful to avoid the downstem/mouthpiece region being hit. To be as snug as possible, you’ll need a seal, so don’t randomly hack your pumpkin. To seal the bong fully, you would need to replace the top.
Note: With a jagged zig-zag pattern, we cut out the end. However, we have observed that a single circular incision can reduce the surface area of the cut and air penetration. Learn from our mistakes.
Clean out the Pumpkin insides
Clean out the “guts” of the pumpkin using a spoon after scraping the lid. This would eliminate all obstacles, making for the smoothest, freshest smoking experience possible. Wash the interior of the pumpkin with water to disinfect it properly.
Don’t also forget to sweep the guts away from the top section! It should be hollow until you’re done washing the pumpkin. Place the top back on after cleansing the pumpkin.
It’s super essential to install Downstem/Bowl. Complete this move carefully. Using a sharp knife, cut out this specified area, but keep the lower portion of the hole at a 45 degree angle. This would hold the downstem pointed down, stopping the back splash. Place the piece inside the hole. Finally, at the end of the downstem, put the bowl.
Mouthpiece Assembly
Place the top of the pumpkin back on, if you haven’t already done so. Next, using your cutting instrument, cut out the mouthpiece part of the pumpkin. Then, inside the hole, place the mouthpiece.
You may also use a straw in place of a mouthpiece. In this scenario, to puncture the pumpkin, you’ll want to use a slightly smaller tool, such as a screwdriver.
Add Water
It will make the smoke flow much better if you apply a small volume of water.
Although your smoking experience won’t actually be changed, it will bring some much-needed character to your bong. Build a design that is representative of fall or Halloween by using a permanent marker!
Your pumpkin bong should NOT be sliced like a regular jack-o-lantern, since this would let the smoke escape. Duh.-Duh.
Congratulations!
You have built a pumpkin bong fit for champions. At Halloween parties, normal smoking sessions, binge-viewing get-togethers, and maybe even Thanksgiving, feel free to show off your masterpiece.
If You’re More of a Dabber…
We’ve got you protected.
Use a titanium nail for dabbing instead of a regular bowl. In the case of a dab rig, ensuring that the nail is located at the right angle is much more critical. Don’t add water, either.
The Reality After
If you love smoking your pumpkin bong, just keep doing it as long as you want. However, inevitably, all good stuff must come to an end. As the pumpkin proceeds to rot, it is time to discard it.
You have now mastered how to practice the old, illustrious art of making pumpkin bongs! You will now have acquired a mouthpiece and a downstem, which will be consistent with other bongs in subsequent smoking attempts. What a perfect way to usher in the fall and enjoy the season of Halloween!
